The aching

What is a rotator cuff and how do you know if you've torn it?

  2. It is the soft tissue part of the ball socket joint in your shoulder. If you have trouble raising your arms above your head or excerting pressure laterally with your arm, go see an orthopedic surgeon. The only way to really know is by getting an MRI/Anthragram. Its similar to an MRI, with the added step of them injecting contrast into your shoulder before they image your joint. Good news is, you can usually build up the muscles around the joint to compensate for the tear, avoiding surgery if you start early. If you wait too long, (4+ months after the injury) the only way to repair it is surgery.

  3. BTW - I am a friend of Curt Dalgaard and he pointed me to your blog. I am an avid Lacrosse player and I am planning to start the P90x workout as soon as the season ends (October) so I have an easier transition to next season (March) without getting all fat and happy over the winter. Good luck, and keep up the posts!

  4. Thanks for the advice! My left arm pit/shoulder area is so sore that it hurts to lift. But I am only using 3lb weights! I am hoping it's just soreness. If it doesn't go away soon, I'm going to schedule an appointment. Thanks for following my blog.
